The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process of welcoming others into our Catholic family. RCIA is a journey of faith through which persons join, or complete their initiation into, the Catholic Church. RCIA is a program intended for anyone:
- Who has not been baptized
- Who has been baptized in a different faith community but wishes to join the Catholic Church
- Who has been baptized in the Catholic Church but hasn’t received other sacraments
- Who is a parishioner seeking to learn more about the Church and share their faith with others
While RCIA is open to the whole parish, it is especially aimed at those who are new to the faith and those who will be received into full communion with the Church. Those who wish to be part of this journey of faith will learn more about Catholic doctrine, share their faith experiences with one another, be edified by the value of the Christian life, and be instructed in the manner we worship as a Church.
Our parish will soon begin a new journey into the faith for those interested in joining our Catholic family. Sessions begin Thursday, September 14.
We all have that one friend who is open to the wonders of Catholic life. The one thing that a friend may need is a personal invitation, so be a good apostle and reach out to those on the periphery.
Consider too whether you feel called to join RCIA as a sponsor of a candidate or just as a representative of our Parish who walks with candidates on their spiritual journey. Give it some prayerful thought.
