Eucharist
Children Preparing for the Sacrament of the Eucharist
At Our Lady of Perpetual Help, children in the second grade prepare to receive their First Communion on the first or second weekend in May.
Parents of OLPH School and Religious Education children are expected to work at home with their child, completing projects together that enrich the classroom instruction. Parents and children also pray and study together at a parent/child retreat in order to prepare themselves to receive Jesus. Our community of faith prays for these families throughout their time of preparation.
Our Lady of Perpetual Help, along with The Archdiocese of Chicago, requires participation in a religious education program for a minimum of two consecutive years for sacramental preparation prior to receiving a sacrament. Please visit our school website or religious education page for more information about First Communion.
Adult Eucharist
We welcome people of all ages into our community. The process for welcoming adults into the Roman Catholic faith is known as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).
