Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist distribute the Precious Body and Blood of Christ at Masses.

Mission Statement:

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist demonstrate that the liturgy belongs to the community as they facilitate the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ.

Ministry Description:

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist are graced with the privilege of sharing Christ’s Body and Blood with others.

Skills Needed:

The only skill needed to become a part of this Ministry is a willingness to share the Body and Blood of Christ with others during the celebration of the mass.

Time Commitment:

The schedule is issued in three month increments. The schedule is set based on each individual’s Mass preferences and availability.

Testimonial:

“Watching hundreds of people of all ages and stations in life line up to receive Communion is a truly moving experience. I look into each person’s eyes so we can share the moment when he/she receives the Body or Blood of Christ. In that shared glance I have seen pain, joy, hopefulness, resignation, wonder, sadness, and sometimes even uncertainty, but behind all of those emotions is faith. That faith joins us in a very strong spiritual bond. It feels like a ‘we know’ moment, and it is very powerful. I often feel tears in my eyes at the privilege of sharing this experience with other believers.”
