In the spirit of Renew My Church, OCIA (the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) –– formerly known as RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) –– will now be a joint effort between OLPH and our neighboring parishes, St. Catherine Labouré and St. Norbert.
What is OCIA and why is it no longer called RCIA?

OCIA is a program designed for individuals who are discerning their call to the Catholic faith. Whether you’re unbaptized, baptized in another Christian tradition, or a baptized Catholic seeking full communion with the Church, OCIA provides a structured path to explore, understand, and embrace the teachings of Catholicism. In that sense, it is no different from RCIA. The name was officially changed in 2021 in order to reflect the nature of the process as an ongoing ORDER of rites rather than a singular rite.
OCIA is more than just learning about Catholic doctrines, it is transformative; it’s a time of spiritual growth, self-discovery, and conversion. By the end of the process, you’ll be prepared to fully embrace the Catholic faith, not just intellectually, but in your heart and soul.

We are also looking for additional facilitators/catechists. (A class manual will be provided for you.) If you are eager to help others on their path to faith, we want and need you!
If interested or for more information, please email Fr. Larry Basbas at lbasbas@olphglenview.org

Classes will take place weekly at St. Catherine Labouré (3535 Thornwood Ave., Glenview) until Holy Week. The first class is scheduled to begin on Thursday, Sept.19 at 7:00pm.
