This Saturday, June 10, the Sharing Ministry at OLPH is sponsoring a sharing project at our sharing parish St. James on Wabash.
We are seeking volunteers to work at the St. James Food Pantry for assisting in the distribution of food from the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Pantry clients have said that the foods they need the most are fresh fruits and vegetables.
The Mobile Pantry is one way we respond to this need by distributing over 5,000 lbs. of fresh produce to an average of 220 households in a span of 2 hours. The “mobile pantry” is set up in the parking lot adjacent to the St. James Parish Hall.
We plan to meet at St. James about 8:00am. You may drive on your own (2907 S Wabash Ave, Chicago), or meet at the OLPH parking lot by 7:00am to carpool. Activities involve packaging food items and distributing food bags to pantry clients. This is also an ideal service project for teens. We usually finish by noon.
If you wish to participate, or if you have questions, please email or call us at 630-698-0753. In your reply let us know the number of family members who will participate. We will send out further instructions before the event. Thank you.
