Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Class of 2017

The OLPH community gathered to celebrate the Easter Vigil after nightfall on Holy Saturday, April 15. It was a time of prayer and celebration, a time to welcome those who were baptized: Nathan Jordan, Stuart Weisberg, Arielle Weisberg, Orion Weisberg, and Vincent Battista. It was a time to celebrate those who were received into full communion with the Church and received the sacrament of confirmation: Elena Magnus, Alexander Magnus, Marie Brueck, Andrew Koeppel, Brooke Phenicie, Alan Akers, Meredith Stone McKinley, Erin Cook, Ryan Cook, Jason Garrett, Matthew Driscoll, Jennifer DeCleene, Nilofur Cobatit, and Shirley Ocana. It was a time of jubilation for the newly baptized and confirmed who, along with Alexandria Magnus, received the sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time. We are overjoyed for these new members of our parish community. Please keep them in your prayers as they continue on their journeys of faith. Thank you to the RCIA team that worked tirelessly for the catechumens and candidates.
Sacramental initiation does not end with the celebration of the sacraments of initiation. It continues with the period of postbaptismal catechesis or mystagogy (that is, reflection on the mysteries). This formal period of reflection and prayer continues until the Pentecost festival at the end of the Easter season.
