Mother Teresa Liturgy

Please join us for a special Liturgy honoring Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa was the embodiment of mercy. She captivated the world by her tireless efforts to relieve the suffering of many who were ignored or marginalized. She founded the Missionaries of Charity, with communities all over the world (including Chicago). She was able to “speak truth to power”. Though barely 5 feet tall, she struck terror in the hearts of presidents and prime ministers as she challenged them on issues of human rights and the sanctity of human life. She was an unabashed defender of life and was the international face for pro-life causes.

Mother Teresa Canonization Mass. The canonization Mass on Sept. 4 in Rome will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the Angelus at noon. Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims are expected, probably exceeding the 300,000 who attended Blessed Teresa’s beatification in 2003. Many bishops from both India and Albania, where Mother Teresa was born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu in 1910,
are also expected to attend, as well as state leaders.
