Mass of Celebration for Aspiring Deacons

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church member Christopher Weiland has been accepted into the Candidacy program for the Permanent Diaconate. Christopher has completed Aspirancy, the first year of discernment program, and will continue a three year process of formation and development starting this fall.

To show your support and to celebrate, all are welcome to attend a Mass at Mundelein Seminary on Sunday August 23 at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception. Following Mass, enjoy hospitality where everyone will have a chance to gather for fellowship and share their support.

Father Jerry Boland says, "I am excited for Christopher, his wife P.J. and their two daughters. We have been so blessed by the ministry of deacons here. Deacon Jim Revord and his wife Pat and Deacon Dave Kalina and his wife Mary Beth minister to us in many ways."

Father Boland adds, "Please pray for Christopher, as the preparation for ordination takes three years. He and his family need our prayerful encouragement."

If you are unable to make it to the Mass on August 23, please keep all the aspirants, candidates, their wives, and families in your prayers as they begin this new year and as they continue to discern God’s call in their lives. Please join us, too, in praying that more men and women may answer the Lord’s call to serve Him as priests, deacons, and women and men religious.
